Binondo 2010

It was February 14, 2010 - Chinese New Year celebration at my home town, Binondo. It was hot, sticky, filthy, noisy, and crowded - quite a wonderful experience!
Enjoy the photos...

Find Mickey...

Fire crackers and trinkets are everywhere

 Christian icons on Chinese ornaments

The color of fruits never fails to catch my attention, and so does he...

The wires of Binondo creates abstraction in my photo

The man is eaten by the lion

Colors are exploding in Binondo

Balloon - No Balloon

Happy foreigner who wants to look around but his lady love says its time to go.

 The Photographer and the Lion

Sweaty boy while performing the Lion Dance

From the mouth of the Lion

Chinese - Filipino

My new photo - buddies

Church window reminds me of Old European castles

Lanterns line-up like Dragon

...and create beautiful contrasts from the background.

Beautiful gradient of brown and blue

Kids...

...bathing in the fountain

The girl doesn't know how to react of what she saw...

They do know how to have fun in the sun.

...and they don't seem to care what people think of them at all.

Crazy little cam-whores!

Hope they will be good when they grow up.

And now back to the main road, where a policeman search for his next "victim"

...and where the main event is happening.

Blue Dragon and Red Lion came face to face.

Awesome Brazilian-inspired band made a twist in Chinese New Year. They attract so much attention that I had a hard time taking pictures of them. Thankfully the manager saw me and put me in front of them as I was mistaken to be a foreigner.

Ola bonita Chihuahua!

Year of the Horse would wait in four years.

Until the next photo-shoot.

they are great pictures, kenny! amazing snapshots. and it must have been pretty dangerous with your expensive camera. but worth the risk! you have a good eye for motives. our next shooting-session will be interesting as well - the beautiful river trip.
